JB Multimedia Studios/360VR Stories
Craetive Director
Joel Benson is the founder and Creative Director at JB Multimedia Studios Lagos based independent production company committed to the very best local content, presented, as it has never been seen before. Primarily focused on documentaries and short films, we also work with clients in finding more dynamic ways of getting their message across via video and new media.
He runs Free Spirit Films the passion arm of JB Multimedia Studios where they craft stories about the people and organisations that inspire us, excite us, and challenge us. This is about people who are doing something, small or great, to make our world a better place.
When Joel ‘Kachi Benson found an old camcorder sometime around 2009... he found this camcorder he decided to “make stuff” with it, and his first project was a music video for a group of teens who had formed a boy band in church. The music video did not become a hit, but that first project ignited a passion that would make him drop everything else and pursue filmmaking.
His first documentary, Cry for Mercy, was shown at BFM International Film Festival (2009). His work has been featured at other festivals which include Lights, Camera, Africa! Film Festival and iREP Documentary Film Festival. In 2014 his film J.D Ojeikere: Master Photographer featured as part of the British Film Institute’s Beyond Nollywood programme.
