Eku Edewor is an actress, television personality and host of the award-winning entertainment show, 53 Extra – which showcases the latest in music, film, fashion and red carpet events across the African continent. Whether gracing the covers of magazines, interviewing stars or performing on screen, Eku has established herself firmly in the African entertainment industry as a talent on the rise.
Born Georgina Chloe Eku Edewor-Thorley in London, England to Nigerian and British parents, Eku was raised between London and Nigeria – an experience that granted her the privilege of being exposed to two vastly different environments. From a very young age, Eku fostered an appreciation for the arts and landed her first part in a school play when she was only seven years old.
Her first job in entertainment was as a production assistant to film producer, Damian Jones (The Iron Lady, Belle). It was during this time, she struck up a close friendship with British actress, Naomie Harris (Skyfall, Mandela: Long Walk to Freedom) whose talent would inspire Eku to continue chasing her dream of acting.
In 2006, Eku was cast as a contestant on the hit reality show, Britain’s Next Top Model and then went on to sign a deal as the face of 53 Extra in 2010; thus marking the start of her career in front of the camera. Eku has since gone on to build an extensive résumé including appearing in her first major film role, Flower Girl (2012) - which garnered several awards, and has been screened worldwide. She also executive produced and performed in the theatre production, Closer in 2013. Some of Eku’s small screen credits include appearing on Big Brother Africa All Stars, hosting the 2013 Miss Nigeria competition, the Elite Model Look Nigeria competitions in 2010 and 2011, co-hosting with IK Osakiaduwa and landing an endorsement deal with Martini Rosé in which she starred in the brand’s first ever television commercial shot in Nigeria. In addition to entertaining audiences every week on 53 Extra, Eku currently hosts PEPSI’s Top Ten Music Countdown and Ndani TV’s upcoming fashion reality show, The Cut.
She has hosted PEPSI’s Top Ten Music Countdown in Nigeria well as host the 2014 Channel O Africa Music Video Awards in South Africa. Her latest film role, When Love Comes Around just wrapped in Ghana.

Eku is a graduate of English and Theatre from the University of Warwick and trained as an actress at the New York Film Academy.

After the birth of her daughter, 2017 saw a shift in Eku’s career back to her first passion Acting. 2018 saw Eku starring in Ebony life’s legal drama series ‘Castle Castle’ playing Nneka Amadi, she returned to the big screen next featuring in Nemsia Productions faith based film ‘God Calling’ and we look forward to seeing her box tv upcoming series ‘first time mum’. Aside from acting, Eku is a live host, from AMVCA Red Carpet Show to Style By Zenith Fashion Rocks concert, Eku has a flair for engaging an audience. A trait we see through her social media platform which sees her partnering with locks and global brands to communicate lifestyle choices to her followers. Speaking of lifestyle, Eku is also the current face for Maiyegun Beach Estate a luxurious residential beach side estate in Lekki, we look forward to seeing what Eku goes on to achieve 2019.
