Black Enterprise Magazine
Digital Community Specialist
New York, NY
Hola, my name is Lydia and I carry the name of my Honduran-Garifuna immigrant grandmother. I am a proud San Francisco native living my dreams of being a media professional in New York City.

My journey as a writer began as a poet in the third grade. And, as a journalist who has been on the frontlines of protests and in the newsroom, I've learned to SEE people the same ways I longed to be seen as a Black child who grew up in the least touristy areas of San Francisco and Oakland in between hard times, poverty, and violence when journalists with camera crews arrived in my neighborhood.

I am known for being an accurate reporter, advocate for media literacy, representation, and belonging. And, honestly, my corny jokes and pick up lines.

Nowadays, I am writing about business, entrepreneurship, technology, and other dope things as a feature writer for Black Enterprise Magazine—where I also manage digital communities and work closely with the events and sales teams. My past experience includes writing about financial literacy for NBC News, lifestyle, health & wellness, and equity.

In this digital and social age, I have experience in creating creative content strategies, managing digital communities, and speaking colorfully to millions of people for major news organizations and non-profits across social platforms.

In 2014, I launched Sincere Visions, a digital storytelling website that covers the politics of being black in America; social justice; and a variety of other issues.
